Roy D. Hatch

Roy Dwayne Hatch, Feb. 23, 1928 - June 15, 2013. Roy was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Panguitch, Utah, to Martha Heywood Hatch and Roy Cooper Hatch. He graduated from Garfield High School in Panguitch in 1946. He was senior class president. He served an LDS mission in eastern Canada from 1949-1951. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Taegue, Korea, and served for seven months when the war ended. He was in Korea for one year. He enrolled in Brigham Young University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. He and his good friend, Leon Miller, came to Las Vegas to teach school. He taught school for 32 years. He commuted to the temple in St. George, Utah and served there for several years. In 1990, he began serving in the new Las Vegas Temple for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Hatch; father, Roy Cooper Hatch; sister, Marina Duffin; brother-in-law, Mabin Duffin; sister, Merle Hatch; brother, Karl Hatch; his brother-in-law, Hal Pectol. He is survived by his sisters, Karma Pectol and Arlene Bell (DeVaughn); brother, Art Hatch (Carole); sisters, Carol Moss (Carl), Glena Hullinger (Floyd) and Martha Maffei; and brother, Rell Hatch (Suzanne). Viewing will be 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N. There will be a second viewing 9-9:45 a.m. Saturday, June 22, with services following at 10 a.m., both at the LDS Parkdale Ward, 2020 E. Wyoming. Graveside services are pending at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
