Roy F. Stoeckinger, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013. He was born to Philip F. and Ethel Stoeckinger, in North Platte, Neb., Jan. 31, 1928. Prior to retiring in Las Vegas, he was U.S. Postmaster in Hastings and Glenvil, Neb. He was a loving husband and father of six children, grandfather of 11, and great-grandfather of 14. Roy loved spending time with his family and enjoyed playing cards, reading, eating at buffets, and watching sports, especially Nebraska football. Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, of over 58 years, Genevieve; his parents; and brothers, Bill, Leonard, Larry and Phil; and sisters, Pat, Leona and Sr. Patricia. He is survived by six children (and their spouses), John (Shelli) of Lincoln, Neb., Marie Weber of Hastings, Kathy Springer (John) of Crete, Neb., Bob of Las Vegas, Tom of Lincoln, and Phil (Geri) of Henderson. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, George and Camille Stoeckinger of Henderson; sister, Phyllis Evans of Omaha, Neb.; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Stoeckinger of Omaha, Dorothy Stoeckinger of Las Vegas, Rita Miller of Kansas City, Kan., and Annie Konen of Guide Rock, Neb. Roy is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. Viewing will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at St. Joan of Arc Church, 315 S. Casino Center Blvd, Las Vegas.
