Ruby Edith Young

Ruby Edith Young, 87, a much loved mother, grandmother & aunt, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2018 in Las Vegas, at Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Born in Oakland, CA to Edith & Kenneth Young, she graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts and went on to become a beloved high school teacher of commercial art, fine art and photography for over 30 years; ending her career at Ed W. Clark High School. She was proud of the awards she earned over the years, including Clark County Employee of the Month and many awards of appreciation from her high school students.  After retiring from active teaching, she continued sharing her passion for art working for the Clark county Recreation Department, as well as teaching painting for the Art League. She was actively involved in Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority & the Nevada Retired Teachers’ Association holding leadership positions and lending her love of storytelling and writing as newsletter editor.
