Russel Alvis Ennols

OBITUARY

Russel Alvis Ennols, 89 years old of Henderson, Nevada departed this life on November 21st at his home surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born to Herbert and Frances (Wilson) Ennols on July 24, 1930 in South Bend, Indiana.

Russel graduated from Lincoln High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1948. He was an outstanding student who loved learning. Even as a teenager, he was very disciplined and motivated. In addition to academics, he excelled in many other areas including swimming, pole vaulting, and music. His involvement in music extended well beyond the walls of the school. Already an accomplished trumpeter, he added the title of band leader by starting his own jazz band.

Russel briefly attended the University of Wisconsin before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He served as a tank commander in the Korean War and received several awards and medals for his service. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Chicago to attend Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Upon graduation in 1956, he began a career as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He was a meticulous person who wasn't afraid of hard work. While still working in the funeral industry, he began a 2nd career as a supervisor at Bethlehem Steel Corporation. In 1986, Russel and a partner opened their own funeral home, Ennols and Robinson Memorial Chapel.

Russel worked for Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 28 years before retiring in 1993. He sold the funeral home and moved his family from Indiana to Nevada. Never one to sit around and be idle, he came out of retirement to work for Palm Mortuary. As funeral director for countless services, he took every opportunity to encourage and minister to the families especially the youth. Russel served the Las Vegas community for over 20 years.

A family friend nicknamed Russel "The Renaissance Man". He was truly a Jack-of-All trades. He had the mind of an engineer and the creativity of an artist. In addition to his dual careers and extraordinary musical ability, he was a skilled tennis player, avid reader and a gifted orator. Russel was well-loved and respected. Often sought for his wisdom and sound advice, he was a mentor to many. He was a strong man of faith and a member of Remnant Ministries in Las Vegas.

Russel was preceded in death by his mother, father, former wife, Lillie Stewart Ennols, and son, Lovell Stewart.

Russel is survived by his wife, Elaine. Daughters: Leslee Ennols, Cherita Weir, and Tracey (Keith) Manuel. Sons: William Ennols, Michael Ennols, Isadore Ennols, and Jeffrey Evans. Grandchildren: Lovell Stewart Jr, Letrice Parson, Omar Ennols, Nagia Ennols*, Dominic Ennols*, Deon (Erica) Harper, Ashley Turner, D'Mario Doby, CJ Sneed, Jordan Sneed and a host of other family members and friends.

*Russel and Elaine legally adopted and raised as their own children.

Russel leaves us with many treasured memories. His love of life, music, family and friends will be with us forever.




YESTERDAY. . .TODAY AND TOMORROW
THERE are two days in every week about which we should not worry, two days which should be kept free from fear and apprehension.

One of these days is YESTERDAY with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. YESTERDAY has passed forever beyond our control.

All the money in the world cannot bring back YESTERDAY. We cannot undo a single act we performed; we cannot erase a single word we said. YESTERDAY is gone.

The other day we should not worry about is TOMORROW with its possible adversaries, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance. TOMORROW is also beyond our immediate control.

TOMORROW'S sun will rise, either in splendor or behind a mask of clouds--but it will rise. Until it does, we have no stake in TOMORROW for it is as yet unborn.

This leaves only one day--TODAY--. Any man can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternities--YESTERDAY and TOMORROW that we break down.

It is not the Experience of TODAY that drives men mad--it is remorse or bitterness for something which happened YESTERDAY and the dread of what TOMORROW may bring.

LET US, THEREFORE, LIVE BUT ONE DAY AT A TIME.
