SARAH EBERT Sarah Ebert, 87, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, who served during the Korean War, of Las Vegas, arrived in Jesus' arms Nov. 26, 2014, from Aegis of Las Vegas Memory Care Center. She was the youngest of six children born to Enos and Lois Hawes, June 19, 1927, in Mt Pleasant, Mich. At 23, she joined the U.S. Navy, where she met and married Donald Ebert, Feb. 17, 1952. Both wore Naval uniforms. The U.S. Navy moved them to Nevada in 1956. At Don's retirement, they moved to Tonopah in 1961 and to Las Vegas in 1974. A devoted mother of three (gaining a son by marriage), she 'adopted' many children and grandchildren over the years who looked up to her as matriarch. Sarah truly loved every one she met and was a patient, kind, selfless woman who gave her all. She loved cooking and baking for family and friends as a full-time homemaker working part-time jobs. Bowling was her passion and she was active in city and state associations. Her love of Jesus brought her to Westminster for more than 30 years. She served as a Deacon, and ushered once a month even with early stage Alzheimer's. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 51 years, Donald. Sarah is survived by her sister, Bettie Jennings of Georgia; son, Dennis (Marcia) Ebert of Texas; daughter, Caran Ebert of California; daughter, Linda (Ron) Olson of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Daran (Barbara) DeYoe of California, Jama DeYoe of Las Vegas, and Sarah Navrkal of Las Vegas; great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; good friend, Larry Landaburu; and many, many friends.
