Shoro Budo, son of Toraichi Budo and Torachiyo Araii, passed away surrounded by his family Aug. 2, 2016. He was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Mohrland, Utah. He was raised in Hiawatha, Utah. He started school at Carbon College in Price, Utah, where he met his wife, Lois Christianson, whom he was married to for 61 years. Shoro served his country during World War II as a member of the occupying forces in Japan and later was stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. during the Korean War. He attended Utah State University, where he played football and earned a BS in geology. He earned a masters degree from the University of Arizona. His work as a hydrogeologist took him to different parts of the world including Kabul, Afghanistan and Cochabamba, Bolivia. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked with the youth and the Boy Scout program, served as a temple worker and served three missions with his wife in Okayama, Japan and the Deseret Ranch near Orlando, Fla. Shoro enjoyed all types of sports and he as an avid runner. One of his most memorable experiences was participating in the Boston Marathon at the age of 61. Shoro will be dearly missed by friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Lois; and children, Jan, Chris and Tami Budo. Graveside service in his honor will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, in Spanish Fork, Utah.
