Sidney Shapiro

Sidney Shapiro, 81, of Las Vegas, passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in Las Vegas. He was born July 24, 1931, in Long Island, N.Y. Sidney enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951 and served during the Korean War. After his discharge from the Corps, he worked as a theatrical stagehand for 45 years in New York and Los Angeles. He retired in 1992 and moved to Las Vegas. Sidney is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Harlene; his three children, Michael (Margaret) Shapiro of Newhall, Calif., Jeffrey (Marianne) Shapiro of Stamford, Conn., and Mindy (Nathan) Goddard of Las Vegas. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Kevin, Carly, Emily, Kelly, Sebastian, Faith and Paige. Services will be Sunday, Oct. 7, in Las Vegas.
