U.S. Air Force, Retired Steven L. Herrin, 58, of Henderson, passed away Oct. 4, 2014. Steve was born Nov. 28, 1955, in Phoenix, to Charles D. and Carol J. (nee Fain) Herrin. Steve served in the U.S. Air Force 20 years, during which time he received numerous awards and commendations. In 1994, he retired as a master sergeant in the Air Traffic Control Center. After his military service, he joined the Las Vegas Fire Department and served for 19 years as the fire communications training officer, where he inspired many to push their limits and go beyond their own potential. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Charles D. Herrin. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jan (Ryan) Herrin; daughters, Heather (Kevin) Kreitzman of Bradyville, Tenn. and Danielle (Carlos) Solorzano of McNeal, Ariz.; son, Ryan of Henderson; mother, Carol J. Herrin of Phoenix; brothers, Randy (Kay) Herrin of Hereford, Ariz. and Mark (Dianna) Herrin of Prescott, Ariz.; sisters Sharon Curry of Prescott and Gail (Dan) Knodle of Hereford; and his grandchildren, A.J., Steven, Sara, Sam and Hannah; plus many nieces and nephews, and friends. Celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Las Vegas, NV 89101. Reception will immediately follow.
