Susan E. (Wright) Apperson

Susan Elizabeth (Wright) Apperson age 77, loving wife to Mike and mother to Tracy and Scott has passed away peacefully in Henderson NV on Saturday May 14th 2022 after a lengthy battle with chronic COPD.  Susan was born in Barrhead Scotland on September 1st 1944 into a large family.   She was one of 7 children born to Susan and William Wright.  Susan bravely traveled to the United States on her own in 1964 to work for a family as a nanny.

Susan and Mike met in Hollywood CA in 1964 and they were married soon after in 1965.   Susan and Mike were blessed with two children, Tracy born in 1966 and Scott born in 1968.  Susan was a very caring and attentive mother. You could find her with her kids coloring, building puzzles or playing board games at the dining room table.  During her time in Hollywood, she volunteered at the children’s elementary school as a teacher’s assistant for a few years, then moved on to a lifelong career with Bank of America.

She and the family moved from Hollywood to Arleta, in the San Fernando Valley, in Dec 1979 where she continued to work and ultimately retired from her position as a branch manager for B of A.  During this time in the valley, fun evenings were spent with her mother & father in-law Beatrice and Russ Apperson in Sherman Oaks at family dinners and of course always a good game of Canasta with Aunt May and Aunt Dodie!

After retirement Susan and Mike moved to their current home in Henderson NV, where she loved to play the slot machines.  She even learned how to play the table card game Pai Gow poker and enjoyed that as well. Her only grandson Patrick would visit often and of course she would always spoil him.   In her spare time at home you could find her knitting or doing cross word puzzle books, always with a cup of tea at her side, and a few cookies as well!   Susan also loved to watch her game shows and court room programs on the TV and dote on her 2 dogs Susie and Bandit who preceded her in death.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but especially by her husband Mike and children Tracy and Scott who loved her unconditionally.

Susan is survived by her husband Mike of 57 years, her daughter Tracy, son Scott, son-in-law Alex and grandson Patrick as well as her younger sister Emma Watson and her extended family in Scotland.

Susan’s wishes were simple, to be cremated and to “Come Home.”   No services or memorials will be held.   Please share any memories or pictures you may have here in the memory book.

Donations can be made in Susan’s memory to the American Lung Association or SPCA to help animals who are less fortunate.
