Thomas J. Yeley

July 1, 1943 — February 21, 2017

Thomas J. Yeley, 73, passed away Feb. 21, 2017, at Summerlin Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born July 1, 1943, in Phoenix, to Tom and Margie Yeley. He had three siblings, Steven, Jeanette and Paul. He met the love of his life, Carolyn Kay Huckaby, at age 16 during Nazarene youth camp in the summer of 1959. They were married July 7, 1962 and remained so for over 54 years until his death. He joined the U.S. Army, learned a trade as a mechanic and in 1962 moved to Las Vegas with his wife. They had their first son, Scott, in 1967, followed by Wayde in 1971. He was an excellent mechanic whose business expanded to include serving law enforcement and the Department of Defense. Over the course of his life, he had the pleasure of involving all of his family members in his business at one time or another. Having grown up poor, he impacted the community through his charitable nature by always assisting widows and families in need. He was a great man who lived an exemplary life and his character, integrity and gentle giant stature were admired by all. He was a loving father, husband and friend as demonstrated by his deeds, patience and care. As a lifelong Christian, he was a humble and honest servant of God and the hardest working person to those who knew him. He was an amazing dad and his family is blessed to have had him on loan from God for his time on Earth. He is survived by his wife, Kay; two sons, Scott and Wayde; daughter-in-law, Cheryl; one grandchild, Santino; brother, Steven; and sister, Jeanette. A life celebration will be at noon Saturday, March 4, at Calvary Chapel Las Vegas, 7175 W. Oquendo Road, Las Vegas, NV 89113. A reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.
