Vernest Davis Jr, aka known as Lil June and Pondarosa, of Pine Bluff Arkansas, died Oct. 7 2016. Vernest was born on March 15th 1947. He was the son of Vernest Davis and Bernice Jones Davis Milton. Vernest received his high school education from Merrell High School, Pine Bluff Arkansas. Afterward he enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served two tours in Vietnam and many more after to take his military career to 20 plus years.
In Vernest’s lifetime he became part of many organizations. The two of which he was most proud of belonging to were The Prince Hall Mason and The Shriners which he went on to achieve his 33rd degree. Vernest was a barrier breaker, the first of his kind in many organizations.
Verenst was the oldest of three. He is survived by a sister Ms. Debra Lynn Davis, Three sons and a daughter in law. Michael and Susan Davis of Frisco, Texas; Barry P Davis of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Anthony B Davis of Dallas, Texas. Vernest was the proud grandfather of five children, several aunts, uncles, and cousins of Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Arkansas.
Vernest will be laid to rest in his formation in the Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW) Crematory in Arlington, Texas. There he will be saluted for the last time.
