Walter “Wally” Joseph Niedzwiecki, 77, passed peacefully surrounded by the love of family and faith. Born in New Britain, CT. Wally spent his life serving others with humility, compassion, and unwavering devotion to God, family, and community.
A proud Vietnam Veteran, Wally carried a servant’s heart throughout his life. His faith was the cornerstone of who he was. From serving as an altar boy in his youth and mowing the nuns’ lawn as a young man, to faithfully caring for Catholic church facilities later in life, Wally lived his beliefs through action. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus and found great joy in helping anyone in need, never hesitating to lend a hand, offer encouragement, or simply show up for others.
Wally was also known for the warmth he brought to every season of life. During the holidays, he especially loved portraying “Mr. Claus,” spreading joy and smiles to children and families alike. He found happiness in gardening, baking his famous apple pies and cheesecakes, and spending time with the people he loved most.
He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta “Maggie” Niedzwiecki; his children, Sandra Niedzwiecki, Kelly Niedzwiecki, and Todd Niedzwiecki; and his cherished grandchildren, Chloe Briggs, Ariana Niedzwiecki, and Cameron Niedzwiecki. He is also survived by his sister, Colleen Chennell, nephews Albert Plunske, David Plunske, and nieces Lisa Knapp-Eldridge, Karen Chennell, and Laurie Brandon.
Wally was preceded in death by his parents, Walter “Lotsa” and Leona Niedzwiecki.
Those who knew Wally will remember his generous spirit, steadfast faith, and willingness to help others without expecting anything in return. His favorite words, “Keep the faith,” were not only something he said, but the way he lived his life each day.
Wally will be laid to rest with military and Knights of Columbus honors at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery on June 4th, 2026 at 12:40pm.
