Wanda Arlene Spindler, 79, a homemaker, of Las Vegas, passed away Oct. 29, 2011. She was born July 18, 1932, in Hammond, Ind., and was a 39-year resident of Nevada. Wanda was raised on a farm in Highland, Ind., one of five children and graduated high school in 1950. She married Oscar Spindler Aug. 9, 1952. Together, their children were born in Maryland, Panama, and California, as family traveled in support of her husband's career in the Navy. They moved to Las Vegas in 1972. Wanda earned an associate of arts degree from CCCC (now CSN) in 1990 and was active in the LDS church, serving in Las Vegas Temple for many years. She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers and Order of Eastern Stars. Wanda supported many community youth organizations including, PTA, Little League, Cub Scouts, Campfire Girls, Job's Daughters and LDS Girls' Camp. She sang in numerous church and community choirs, acted in community plays and was a talented handcrafter, volunteering as quilting judge for the Nevada State Fair. Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar O. Spindler (Feb. 27, 1928-Dec. 26, 2003). Wanda is survived by her sons, Lance Alan Spindler and Brett Andrew Spindler; daughter, Terri Lynn Spindler of Henderson, and their spouses; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, with services following, both at the LDS Church, 221 S. Lorenzi St., Las Vegas.
