WARREN BLOMGREN Warren Jerome Blomgren, 65, of Las Vegas, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, passed away peacefully Feb. 15, 2014, at home. He was born March 8, 1948, in Minneapolis, to the late Warren and Dorothy Blomgren. He was a graduate of Long Beach City College, where he earned his AA in manpower management/industrial relations in 1973. He went on to a long career in purchasing for a variety of organizations including the Rio, Atlantis, and the Mint. His first love in life, however, was his family. He married Becky Tweed Nov. 30, 1996, with whom he made his home together in Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by sisters, Darlene Sims and Donna Henshaw. He is survived by Becky; his sons, Robert Zane Blomgren and Jeremy Tyler Blomgren; stepson, Brian Tweed; brother, Leonard Blomgren; and sisters, Veronica Wilson and Cheryl Hendry. Warren considered as among his brothers the Marine Riders and Marine League, where he found fellowship with other veterans. It was clear from his time in the service, including Vietnam, that Warren was passionate about serving, having earned a Rifle Marksmanship Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medals (Second Award). The values he exemplified and was awarded for as a Marine never left him and imprinted themselves on all those who called him dad, brother, uncle, grandpa and friend. His love of family, sense of humor, and loyalty will be missed. To join the family in cherishing his memory, visitation will be 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, with memorial services following, both at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd N. Burial following at 12:30 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road. Celebration of life will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Leatherneck Club, 4360 W. Spring Mountain Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Toys for Tots Foundation.
