William Lynn Peters, 88 years young, returned to his heavenly home on July 28, 2016. Lynn was born in 1927 to William Henry Peters and Mary Lucy Williamson in Provo, Utah. The family moved to Montebello, California, then became long-time residents of Las Vegas, Nevada. Lynn graduated from Las Vegas High School, Class of 1946. In 1948, he married Ida W. Hunt in the St. George Utah L.D.S. temple. They raised five children and celebrated 68 years of marriage. Lynn was employed by Union Pacific Railroad, Stauffer Chemical Company and the UNLV Chemistry Department. He served over 50 years in Boy Scouts of America and the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints and served in the Las Vegas temple. Lynn loved family, nature and the outdoors, hunting, fishing and Dutch oven cooking. He enjoyed designing, building, carpentry, wood-carving, photography, painting, story-telling, singing in quartets and choirs, flying, teaching, genealogy and was “Santa” to many.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents, Sister Glenna, and Granddaughter Loriann Fowkes. He is survived by his sweetheart Ida, children: Nelson, Stephen, Lynda, Danny (Kathaleen) and Donald (Lettie); Grandchildren: Greg (Annie), Jennifer (Sam), Jason, Glen, Hannah, Shane (Shailee), Ben (Desiree), Bryce, Kyle, and Jacob. Great Grandchildren: Justin, Tyson, Kristopher and Abbygaile.
William Lynn Peters has lived his life as a testament of love for our Savior Jesus Christ, family, and dedicated service. A viewing will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 at Bunker Brothers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Boulevard North, from 4:00 .p.m. until 8:00 p.m. There will also be a viewing from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. with services to follow on Saturday, August 13, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at the L.D.S Chapel 1101 N. Pecos Rd., Las Vegas, Nevada 89101.
