Yaeko Rhea Fujimoto, 94, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 21, 2017,, at her home, with her caregiver, Fern Hinds, by her side. Rhea was a resident of Las Vegas for 46 years. Rhea was active throughout her adult life in the Japanese-American Citizens League and was an avid bowler with a 175 average. She treasured her family, church and friends, and was always accessible to lend an ear to anyone's problems. She was well known for her ability to grow anything in the Nevada desert. Neighbors would often get baskets of fruit, vegetables or flowers from her garden. Most of all, Rhea will be remembered as a ray of sunshine in the lives of all she came into contact with. Rhea was preceded in death by her husband, of 40 years, Joe Fujimoto. She is survived by her daughter, Eunice Fujimoto; her brothers, Herbert and Joe Yamanishi; six nieces; and 10 nephews. Viewing will be from 10 a.m.-noon Friday, March 10, with services immediately following, at Desert Spring United Methodist Church, 120 N. Pavilion Center Drive, Las Vegas NV 89144. Graveside service following at 2 p.m. at Bunkers Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas NV 89129.
