Dequincy Taylor

DeQuincy Taylor was born December 11, 1931 in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Eddie James and Mary Lue Taylor. He was the second of three and the only son.
DeQuincy confessed Christ as his personal savior at a very young age. He was a member of the Ollivet Baptist Church. He loved the Lord with all his heart and soul. His favorite scripture was Philippians 4:13. His love for singing came at an early age. His favorite songs were songs he sang for the Lord.
DeQuincy attended Lutheran Cooperate and Booker T Washington High School. He was the class president, Glee club singer, a great athlete and track star.
DeQuincy jointed the United States Air Force in 1951. Memphis had a hero in the Korean War, which motivated most of the young men to join the military.
DeQuincy met Hattie Mae Disroe in Memphis, Tennessee. They were married on October 16, 1953. To this union eight children were born; Cynthia, DeQunicy Jr, Deborah, Faye, Glen, Troy, Fred and Katie. They were married for forty years.
DeQuincy served in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He was stationed in Korea, Japan, South America, Thailand, Turkey, Alaska, Hawaii, Georgia, Louisiana, Nevada and Nebraska.
DeQuincy was an area photographer in the Air Force and an amateur boxer in Japan. In 1971, he retired from Omaha, Nebraska.
DeQuincy moved his family to Las Vegas in 1972 where he joined the Second Baptist Church. Brother Taylor proudly served as an usher, sung in the male and cathedral choir. He loved his Second Baptist Church family.
DeQuincy had a passion for bowling, he bowled over 55 years. In 2005, he was the founder of the Open Range Tournament Club. He was a charter member and co-founder of the National Bowling Association Inc. (TNBA). He bowled every Sunday and on Tuesdays with the Second Baptist Church. Every year he would travel to different states for the tournaments. He was a member of the Lions Club.
DeQunicy was a small business owner. After retiring from the Air Force, he went back to school and received Associates Degree in Art and Applied Science. He worked for Cashman Photo and the Greyhound Corporation. He was a very humble person. He was the heart of the family.
Brother Taylor was preceded in death by his father Eddie Taylor, mother Mary Lue Taylor, sister Thelma Wheeler, former Wife Hattie Taylor, son Leonard Troy Taylor, grandson Derrick Taylor, sister-in-law Bernestine Disroe, and nephew Sydney Boyd of Atlanta, GA. He leaves to celebrate his home going; three sons DeQuincy Taylor Jr. (Flora) of Fairfax, VA, Glen Taylor (Alicia), Fred Taylor (Pam) both of Las Vegas, NV, four daughters Cynthia Mays (Alan), Deborah Taylor, Faye Stewart (Geary) and Katie Preston all of Las Vegas, NV, daughter-in-law Sheila King (Bobby) of Las Vegas, NV, his sister Eddie Mae Williams of Memphis, TN, eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends. He also leaves his dearest special friend Ethel Williams of Las Vegas, NV , favorite niece Carol Downey of Centralia, Il., brother-in-law Donald Disroe of Nashville, TN, god-daughters Vaness Cooke and Faja Jones, good friend Ron Keys, Las Vegas, NV, extended family Jarvis McDaniels and Ann Smith both of Las Vegas, NV and his Second Baptist Church family. Brother Taylor will truly be missed and loved by all.
